Since June 11, clashes between various groups identifying themselves as Kyrgyz and Uzbek that have been taking place in Osh city and Osh oblast – supposedly instigated by local Kyrgyz mafia leaders that purposely armed young people – continue to bring further victims. It is clear that ‚ethnic‘ component has been used as a mere provocation that, unfortunately, lead to tragic results, with about 1000 people hurt in the conflict and thousands seeking refuge in Uzbekistan. The interim government of Kyrgyzstan plea the Russian Federation for military intervention, which in turn, provokes hight extent of criticism among nationalistically-oriented citizens. The situation remains largely unstable.
